Hey guys picked up a 2003 4x4 pathfinder for 1200 today. It has 100k on it. My original plan was to fix a 2003 LE pathfinder I got for free from my neighbor because it has rod knock it has 80k. Which would you guys rather work on and save?

For the 4x4 the main problem is you can drive it for about five to ten minutes till it's warmed up, then it will just rev and it doesn't engage in any of the selectors (park, reverse, neutral, etc). Any idea where to start? The 4wd light is illuminated on the cluster.

On a side note, learned the hard way that the heads and sensors are different in 00-01 compared to 02-03.

Welcome to NICO.

Try running the self-diagnosis described starting on page TF-63 of the factory service manual. Post which code(s) you get here.

I just realized mine does not have that knob to change settings. It just has the gear selector next to the other selector (drive, reverse, park etc). Do I try the same procedure? Thank you

Are you sure about the year?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought anything newer than about 2000 had the turn knob to select 2WD, AWD, 4HI and 4LO.
I don't recall a 2003 having a second gearshift selector.
Can anyone else clarify?

The 2003 FSM lists both the TX10A (manual) and ATX14A (auto) transfer cases. The manual transfer case doesn't seem to have a diagnosis procedure listed under its section.

I would check the fluid level (or just change it if you don't remember the last time it's been changed - use any synthetic ATF claiming to meet Dexron III specifications).

Also, perhaps try running the automatic transmission diagnosis described on page AT-49 of the factory service manual to see if that yields any codes.

Thank you, will give that a try. Any idea on what could cause it to just stop? It's as if all the hubs just lock and won't roll not even in neutral, also the manual transfer case will not allow me to change to Any other settings.

I will flush the transmission tomorrow
