2003 350z Question/

Hello im new to this site but i apparently got a nissan 350z 2003 but the only trouble im having on it is that the 3rd gear grinds but everything else is goood any 1 have any advice but is it actually possible to buy like a 3rd gear im new at this

Thats crazy, I had an 03' and the same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer and all they told me is that there was nothing wrong with it. I just dealt with it, didnt happen often. Other then that I dont know what to tell you, I ended up totalling that car so I dont know how bad it could have become down the stretch. I have an 05' now and theres a big difference between the 03' and 05' clutch. so much smoother

i had the same problem my 3rd gear was grinding and everything else was perfect... i took it to nissan and they gave me a brand new transmission because i still had powertrain warranty... what had happend was that something had shattered i forgot what and all the piece of metal were still in there... so i got a new transmission ftw !!! so take it to nissan if your under 60k miles

i had the same problem in 5th gear... its a defect from the factory i believe. i got a brand new transmission from nissan when i took it in (it would only grind above about 55mph) fortunately it was under the powertrain warranty.

The problem your having is from a burned third gear sychronizer. You can buy the parts to rebuild the transmission in that area but unless you DIY it it will cost some serious money in labor. The parts you will need are the 3rd gear sychro cone and probably the 2-3 sliding clutch along with 3rd gear. You'll need th onther parts because on the unsychronized shifts you made have probably damaged the clutch and gear. Anymore info needed let me know.
