2002Q engine oil overfill

Hi,

My car was low on oil and I added one quat to it. Now it shows more oil than high mark. These guages on 2002 are hard to read.

Should I take it to oil change shop to take some oil out.

Did you run the motor to temp after adding oil? Run the motor to temp then shuft off, after that check and if it is only 1/8 to 1/4 inch over you should be fine. Then again if you have doubts then take it to your mechanic.

You should havethat little half nub thing right above the hash marks, where the dipstick bends.

if you are not on that part you should be fine.

Where on the dipstick was it when you added? Generally speaking when mine gets down to around the bottom of the hash marks it doesnt take a full quart to get it full again.

It was on the nub below the hash marks when I started. But now its almost covering the top nub.

Next time I'll add half a quat first.

I am planning to get an oppoinment for an oil change. That may take 3-4 days. Is it ok to drive around like this? Or should I do it asap.

i dont think youll have any problems overfilling by even a quart, just maybe check your oil after you get done driving and see if its foamy.
