What position was the vent control on? Vent's, floor, dash??? If you had it on vent, then I would check your thermostat.

temp was to the hot position and the air would be coming out at the vents in the dash at your chest or face. not the floor or the defrost vents. and also do you mean the thermostat in the engine.

to let you know, when I move the temp control knob from cold to hot, Ihear a tap sound in the dash which sounds like the door is opening and closing.

Yes I was referring to the engine thermostat. It may be stuck open which will cause a loss in heat for the passenger compartment.
