i have a 02 specv, was driving it last night in town and it briefly shut of and kicked back on, now my tach doesnt work. and it takes a long time turning over to start. it sat overnight. it started normal this morning, drove 25 or so miles and it happened again! the tach doesnt work and it takes a little bit to start.

all fuses are good.

idk but i guess i would start by disconnecting the battery to reset the computer, if that dont work i would swap relays around to elimanate one of them as a prob. im no mech. but at least it gives you something to try and wont cost you any money. good luck oh yea and this is a long shot but if you have a spare key maybe try using that one. i say that cuz i have i key that wont stay programed and what it does is the car will turn over but wont start so maybe your key is shorting out if thats even possible but wont hurt to try

yea. i just dont know whats goin on. i have 2 of the same car. the 03 has been the best to me. this 02 has been a nightmare. hooked up the comp and found a few new codes, seems now that i need a crank pos. sensor. and im getting a error on the idle. says its too high.

You are in need of a new CPS (crank position sensor). It is causing all of your problems. Go and pick one up and swap them out, and you should be fine...

you need to replace the camshaft pos AND crankshaft pos. It's the exact same sensor for both. they are new so they look diff compared to ones already on the car. you just need to replace them BOTH!! then get reset it. i ended up replacing them and doing that recall thing for the ecm. the exact same thing happend to me and my dad's car. (we both have 03 spec v's) and after that didn't have anymore problems and yeah you should get them from the dealer. they were like 40 bucks i believe
