Hey I have a 02 Se-R with 80,000 miles on it and it runs great, the problems it has had were minor and easliy fixable. My engine light has been on for about two weeks now and ive been driving around and havent noticed anything strange with the performance of the car. I recently took the car to autozone to have diagnosis and the code p0217- Engine Overtemp Condition came up. Does anyone know what this means or what is needed to fix this. I hav recently filled my coolant reservoir but the light still remains on. Has anyone had the same problem?

I doubt its under warranty with 80k miles. Could be the temp sensor going bad.

Hey, I have an 02 Sentra-GXE w/ the same prob code. I looked the code up on the CD that came w/ the diagnoser, and it said fuel air metering. I erased the code, and I'm going to see if the service engine soon light comes on again. Does anybody know what this could mean though?

Fuel air metering shouldn't register a temperature code.

Regardless, if it's a metering issue, your MAF is probably bad. It's an easy replacement.

Yea, I double checked. The P0217 code for all other car companies is engine overtemp condition, but for Nissans its the fuel air meter. At least according to the diagnoser cd. so i'll figure out how to fix that MAF and hopefully I'll be good. thanx

If the MAF is bad, you can only replace it.

First I'd try cleaning it though. Mist some Windex lightly into the chamber and use a shopvac or something to blow air through and dry it.

it is way too dark out to take care of this right now, will have to wait for tomorrow. But can you really Windex auto parts?

I thought it was odd too. As long as you mist it rather than spray it on directly (ie, hold the MAF vertically and spray over the top so that some falls in) it won't damage it, but will dissolve any oil or other grime that may be on it.

I've done this, my MAF is fine.

well, today when i was driving, my temp gauge was really high. so the P0217 code is the temp one. my coolant was low so i added more. and then the gauge was fine on my way home from work. now also i was in a car accident a few days ago, and the guy hit my front bumper pretty hard. so i was looking for any possible radiator damage. and i noticed that neither of my fans are turning on when the car is running. and although the temperature gauge in my car didn't go too high, the engine felt way too hot for the driving i had done considering the amount of time the car was off. theres this whole headache w/ the other guys car insurance, so i dont know if i will ever see the money from them to fix my car. does anybody know how expensive these kinds of things run? im trying to see whether i should see if a friend can fix it, or go thru my insurance. theres a lot of cosmetic damage too, but i dont really care if that gets fixed or not.
