My QX 4 has a relatively new battery; however, it randomly will not start and will not crank even when I try to use jumper cables. All of the electrical functions work fine, but I don't even get a "click" when I try to start it. My mechanic replaced the battery terminals and checked the connection with the starter. So, is it a bad starter or something in the ignition?

Next time it occurs, tap on the starter with the handle of a hammer and try again. If this works and your QX4 starts, it's probably the starter. Also, check if the red "security" LED is blinking after a failed start.

:welcome: to NICO!

Ditto on everything above. You might also check the starter relay. You can check out the factory service manual to help locate things... it's at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

Good luck!
