I've the Drum removed so it's not the shoes making the clicking. I think it's the ABS Sensor? I removed the bolt but the sensor is kind of stuck and can't be removed yet!

Anyones having same problem? How often can ABS Sensor make contact with the plate inside?

The clicks or noise heard when you turn the wheel is about equal to me. I would check out that rear bearing and the seal. Can you rotate the shaft with the wheel off by placing a wooden stick across two bolts and turn. Listen closely.

You must determine if the noise is from:
The wheel bearing
Bearing seal
Bearing at the diff end
Noise transferred from the rear end along the shaft

Test both sides and test both sides with wheels and drums off.

ABS is hydraulic with electrical actuator and requires input from the driver's foot on the brake to build up pressure and that pressure is pulsed released by the ABS

Your noise sounds like a bearing or a rubbing seal, BTW have you checked your hypoid fluid for quantity and age and filth?

Thank you for your response.

I still have the ABS Sensor soaked in WD40 and it still doesn't want to move! I wish I had cleaned these ABS sensors every year! I don't want to ruin this thing.

I can rotate the shaft with both wheels off ground and in Neutral. I don't think it's clicking when I rotate the shaft. I have clicking when rotating either wheel by hand.

Your truck has same clicking too? Did you check out the bearings or seals? I have not pull the axle and check bearings at both ends yet. Will there be any more damage if I still drive the truck for few more months? I just changed the limited-slip hypoid fluid a month ago and there was very fine thin coat of deposit on the drain plug and the color looks like new fluid.

I might get a stethoscope to pinpoint exactly but it seems like clicking right at the hub.

My car a 97 QX4 does not click at the rear end, but on one occasion after doing routine PM, the clip holding the adjustment of the rear shoes came off and it did cause clicking but that noise was very noticeable and it took pulling off the hub to see that it was off and caught between the brake shoe and drum. An easy repair.

Your sound (noise) must be determined as to where it is, then what it is. The consequences of ignoring it can neither be explained nor addressed without knowing what is taking place.

Are you sure that it is in the rear axle, drive line, brakes or transmission, transfer box? Can it be a vibration as to the brake line bouncing around, the e brake too loose? Does the sound disappear if you gently tighten the e brake?

Can you place the car in 4x4 2x2, auto, etc and get differing sounds?

You are going to have to do some investigating.
