I just fixed the lower oil pan leak on my Qutie. However, "a leak" prevails and when I checked it further, it appears to come from "above the oil pan" through a bolt and it trickles over the back of the oil pan. Is there another oil pan (upper oil pan) that I need to be fixing? If so, is this a DIYrselfer thing or something requiring special skills/equipment? Any ideas on how much this would cost? Thanks everybody.

There is indeed an upper oil pan. The transmission must be removed in order to remove the upper oil pan - see EM-15.

AAMCO replaced my lower and upper oil pan seals for $400 if I recall correctly.

Is it possible to lower the oil pan for a gasket replacement without actually removing it? I've never looked at it on the VQ, but have done similar work on other engines.

I seriously doubt it. Both the upper and lower oil pan seals are RTV - the upper is a grey type, the bottom is just generic black RTV. My mechanic used a ton of the proper specified stuff for the upper pan, every time I come in there for some advice or something he always dreads another leak, haha.
