Hi,

I wanted to make my 02 QX4 louder. I was thinking of putting a straight pipe, but than i think that its going to be too loud. Someone told me to get an K&N Air Intake Filter. They said that a thin/squared filter will do the job, it doesn't have to be round one like everybody is using. So what will be best decision for me, and cheapest. ( i was hoping for the sound that FX35 or G35 makes, is that even an option for 02 QX4?).

Thanks.

In my opinion, I don't think it would be possible to get the sound of a g35 or fx35.

The intake would only give you a vacuum like sound. A member of this forum, slickroger, has an intake on his pathfinder and I got to see it at our first meet here in the GTA and it wasn't loud like I thought it would have been, but it did have a decent sound.

The straight pipe will definately give you a louder qx4, but I think if you choose the right muffler and do away with the resonator and bump up the pipe diameter then you should get a sound your looking for. I have a magnaflow muffler with 2.5" piping and dual out. Sounds loud and is a head turner.

It took some time to get use to the sound but it has like a growling sound when you accelarate and release the gas just before the gear whiches from 1st to 2nd.

Its not cheap tho. Id say the intake is maybe a more "wallet friendly" way to go, but ideally the exhaust will give you the most sound.
