I'm about to fix (make) the gasket with the appropriate RTV to the lower oil pan. Once I make the gasket I know the "sequence" of tightening the screws. The question is: Is there a specific torque that I need to apply to the screws or do I simply use my best judgment? Happy Holidays to all!

Ok, now....how do I adjust my torque wrench so that I can get the 72-83 inch pounds requirement? I know it sounds simple but I can't figure it out. Please help. Thanks,

Do you have a 1/4" drive torque wrench? Anything larger will more than likely only be a range of foot pounds. 83 inch pounds is only approximately 7 foot pounds, so you will absolutely want a 1/4" drive torque wrench for proper torque and accuracy. Harbor Freight should have a coupon somewhere for a $10 torque wrench.

I have a 3/8" drive torque wrench. The pounds are identified on the top of the wrench and that's ok. The handle rotates to the right from 0 to 4 and to the left from 4 to 0. On what number should I have it? And do I rotate right or left? I'm guessing right is to tighten and left to loosen? Thanks for prompt feedback!

Righty tighty lefty loosy. Could you provide a picture of the handle with markings?

Also, avoid loosening fasteners with a torque wrench since this can throw off the calibration. Use a breaker bar or ratchet for this purpose instead.

Wasn't able to take a good picture. Nevertheless, I'm guessing that the markings on the handles have to do with the tightening and loosening. If I'm able to take a good pic, I'll send it to you. Thanks.
