Hey guys, curious to see instead of buying used ballast on eBay for my faulty Drivers Side HID, is it possible to buy an aftermarket HID Kit for my QX4? If so, what bulb should i buy?

It's possible but it requires a bit of work. While the bulbs will fit, you'll lose some functionality (for instance you won't be able to move your low beams up and down) and your headlight assemblies won't be water tight anymore. You'll also have to get creative with powering them as none of the original plugs will fit into an aftermarket kit.

That being said, it's still way cheaper than buying the original ballasts and replacing them. I bought a $100 kit that had both bulbs and ballasts, ran an auxiliary wire off the battery specifically for the headlights, and then spliced a wire in off the old headlight wire so it would receive power when I turned it on in the car. Then wrapped everyrhing in electrical tape to try and make it as water tight as possible. I can post pictures of my set up later. Best of luck!

Thank you for your response! I ended up buying a replacement Ballast when I went to trouble shoot my headlights.
