Why are we still doing Emission testing? I have always heard California has the strictest in the Nation, I suppose the States just can't give up that revenue.
Anyways, I would think any Catalytic Converter sold at the big auto parts store would suffice. Just don't weld it on and after emissions you can remove it if you want. As far as the number goes, I lived in Oregon and we just drove to the DEQ, gave them the registration, they plugged in their code reader and put the sniffer up the tail pipe. Did their mirror around the car to check for CConverter. Never asked for any number, so it must be Cali specific. Maybe some number on your registration card or VIN plate.
