I have a 2002 Q that has 6300 miles on her. I have an appointment at AtlanticIinfinity for service and have noticed a small performance problem. She seems to be stumbling for lack of a better term when applying throttle. When I give it gas the car seems to not respond for a 1/2 second or so and than it is fine. It is like there is a delay between me applying gas and the car responding. Any ideas or is this normal? Also does anybody know the weight of a 2002 factory 18 in rim that comes with the premium package? Thanks!

I believe there's a software update on that very issue... several complaints on the drive-by-wire setup. I'd describe it to your service advisor and they should be able to update the software for you.

Thanks guys. I thought it might have something to do with the electronics but wasn't sure. I'm taking a trip from Jacksonville to Dallas in a couple of weeks and would like to have her running right.

There are two fixes.

1) A new accelerator pedal is installed with no springs. The gas pedal will then move instantly with no play like it does now.

Info on this fix:

Service Bulletin Number: ITB01038 Date of Bulletin: 06/01 Component: BRAKES: HYDRAULIC: PEDALS AND LINKAGES Summary: SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE HESITATION OR DELAYED THROTTLE RESPONSE

View ITB on this here.

2) The 2nd fix I'm having done as we speak while they are trying to fix my vibration issue. See my post at the top here. I'm curious if you have this issue.

The TCM (transmission control module) and ECM (engine control module) are replaced with tweaked versions for better acceleration when mashing the throttle to fix delay. I've spoken with a few people who said it made a DRAMATIC difference. The shop foreman just called me after his test drive and said it's "noticeably quicker".

Info on this fix:

Service Bulletin Number: ITB02040 Date of Bulletin: 06/02 Component: POWER TRAIN: TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC Summary: SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A DELAYED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 5-2 DOWNSHIFT THAT

Hope this helps,

I just picked up the from Atlantic Infiniti and throttle response is much improved. They replaced the gas pedal and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks guys!
