2002 Q45 wiring harness removal

How would you go about removing this wiring harness lead going into the firewall(imgur link below)? 2002 Q45
A mechanic friend of mine said you should be able to just pull it out and plug it back into the firewall afterwards. Or do you need to disconnect it from the glove box area inside the car?
