(Brain fart. Posted the wrong year. 1992 is the correct year)

I just noticed that the rubber cap for this switch has worn through. It is located in the engine compartment along the front of the wheel well, behind the air filter. I have no idea what it is for, and I can't find my service manual at the moment.

Does anyone know what this switch controls and what its present state might keep it from doing?

Thanks
Ken K

I'm pretty sure it has to do with hood release. Whether its for that actual function or has something to do with the security system I'm not sure. Not to worry though, I believe every one of those ive ever seen looks like that.

it's your hood switch for the theft deterrent system.
You can buy (at least as of 4 years ago) a replacement switch with new rubber boot. There is a bracket that is sold separate on the replacemetn you need both pieces if you replace it.

bracket is b5732-60u00,
switch is b5360-HU100. price for both was <20 from IoS, but again, that was 4 years ago.
