Well this will be my second post on a car I have owned less than one week.

I am beginning to think the owner, new full well of the problems... That said.

My wife pulled out, and quickly the ABS Warning Take to closest dealer light came on... So I noticed the day before if you turned on the Trac off button that it would Light up the ABS light with it... Then say the same thing on the screen... Push the button, turn off the car, and restart all goes away..

What is the problem with the Trac Off and the ABS.. That when this light is pushed I get the Big Go to the nearest dealer...

Even now about every 4-5th start, not even touching the button, the ABS, Trac off light etc is lite and the warning Comes on the Screen...

So what did the dealer say? TCS relay?

Please report back the steps that remedy this problem.

No , he means that the screen on his car says to to take it to the dealer but he has'nt done so in hope of finding the answer here for free rather than the stealership.

You have a complex, expensive.relativly new high end luxury car.....I would stop playing doctor and get it into the hands of a factory trained expert. At most, you are looking at 1 hour expense to properly diagnos by a expert .

Yes, exactly I am trying to avoid taking it to the dealer.

That is why I am posting here... I have owned several high end luxury Cars, but this is my first Infiniti Q45 F50..

I know with each car, they have there known problems, in the actual community, but you take it to the dealer and they are like humm... Nope its a first time.

The 95 Supra TT I just sold to buy this, took 1 month of learning and straightening out little electrical/misc stuff... Of which had I taken to the dealer would have cost the price of the car.

So guys... Help a newbie out and save some money.

We just did, but you weren't listening.

Avoiding dealers entirely, especially on newer electronically complex cars, can ony hasten degradation or incur outright harm when incompetent personnel service it.

If your symptoms had appeared before, we wouild tell you what may have cured them.

You do own a $60K+ luxury imported V8.

Get a diagnostic for codes. Might just be a dirty ABS sensor.

Alright that sounds like a start... Dirty ABS sensor...

I looked thru the service records, that came with the car... He just had the Brakes done by a local Maxi Muffler shop... He ordered the Pads from a Infiniti dealer in AZ... and they put them on...

I guess off to look at the FSM to see where they are... I am sure around the Brake Caliper area...

I guess some good brake cleaner, should fix that problem if that is the case...

What Computer is used to scan these codes on the car. OBDII OR III or ??

Maxnix... Yes I know not to take it to the dealer... I have been around the block several times... The Merecedes Dealer or BMW Dealer is the ones you got to love... Every time... it was ohhhh sir... looks like you have trouble coming... Give us 4,500... should have you going for 100K... Then on and on..

Anyone else got a Thought to check while I got the wheels off??

No OBD III yet. Was the AZ dealer Infiniti of Scottsdale? Hello Joe!

Sensor location are in the FSM. Maxi Muffler could have fubared them, but then they would always fail. A good OBD II scanner with a memory would be a good investment for any one with an OBD II car, let alone one that wishes to avoid the dealer at all costs.

Maxnix...

Yep it is Infiniti of Scottsdale...

Well exactly what I thought on the sensors... if they screwed them up, the light would be on, all the time...

And thanks for the words on a OBD II scanner... I know a guy who has one.

Might be a great time to change your transmission fkuid. Get a dip stik from the dealer. Then permanently install to replace the dummy cap the have in place. I have been running Castrol Import Multi Vehicle ATF $3.99 a quart. I have been running this for 2 years now and no issues with transmission. Make sure it is Nissan Matic-D or J compatible, I believe. Check the label on the car.

I just went through this.

It was a bad ABS sensor from the front drivers side.

OBD-II will not pull the code.

The equipment you need to read the is mucho expensive at a minimum of $2500. Most good shops will have the right readers for this. Otherwise Infiniti Consult-II will take care of it. However, they will likely charge you 1 hours labor for 60 seconds of work.

Mine was covered by my Extended Warranty, so I didn't bother with trying to clean it. $250-300 with parts and labor to have it done.

Funny thing is, I prefer to drive with traction control disabled. But the incessant message on my Nav screen was making me crazy.

Anyhow, best of luck with it.

With no VLSD, TCS is all you have.

twinturboq, is that an aspiration?

Not quite an aspiration. Just a carry-over from twinturboz (93 300zx TT) and twinturbovolvo from my previous cars.

I'm pretty sure the Q will remain normally aspirated for as long as I own it.

Now, if I could only fix that rear end sag!

Guys thanks for the good posts lately...

Well the brakes have gotten more use, and I sprayed off the rotors, and cleaned the inner wheel area...

Since this... The light has never came on...

But I am waiting to see... I have my scanner now, but as you said, it may not work... I have not taken 5 minutes to do it..

My car came with a extended warranty I am just waiting on it, to come back and then I am taking it to the dealer, if it comes back again...

TwinTurboq thanks for the good posts.

Well the problem kept happening...

Took it to the local stealer... I do have a extended warranty so was hoping it would be covered... Sure enough it was.

The problem is a short in the Instrument Cluster... So they say... A new one is 795.50. the good is that it is covered under the warranty..

The Bad... well I will save for another thread.. my headlight out.

Update... At this point the dealer is not so sure, it is the instrument cluster... The Tech... drove my car, and it happened to him...

I kept telling the Cord... that its something to do with the ABS and Brakes... Oh well

I am praying whatever it is... Is covered under my extended warranty thru Fedility....

The Saga Continues...

It was in fact the ABS Wheel sensor, on the passenger side.

It was covered under warranty and now the car is back in my hands. Of course it took 2 hours to clean the dirt hand prints and smears in side the car, but they where nice enough to do a crappy hand wash on it, and leave soap sud spots all over it.

DBrown, do put year and model in your profile.

I would have taken the Service Manager on a personal tour of your vehicle and shown him the not up too Infiniti standards of the soiled interior.

I complained to my Acura dealer about not vacuuming the stones under the mats on their complimentary wash and interior vacuum. After the 3rd time, my team service advisor always checked before I saw the car.

My car is in my profile, and thanks for your thoughts on the Service Manager.

I figure if that is how they treat everyones car, then I know where I stand. From here forward I will make mention of what I expect, when I take my car in.

I did ask the Service Cordinator, if it looked as clean as when I brought it in, he said NO quick... But then again, it did, rain, and I showed him my door jams etc...

I finally got tired of the Dumb look face, and decided that my time is worth more to move on...

Unfortunately for small town dealers with no competetition and no hope of getting the Infiniti gold dealer award, close is good enough.

Move on.

Take the Q45 in for a complimentary Ivaluation and ask them to also run a full ectronic diagnostic on the vehicle's codes too so you can get a better idea of the problems your Q45 has.
