The only thing I really dislike about my Q is the seats aren't heated. Bonehead move on a 2002 60k car, but I digress. I asked the dealer yesterday, and he said I couldn't simply add the option, the seats in the premium package are different, I'd need new seats which he said run about 6k.

I only care about the front seats.

--Is it possible to switch out the seats without much hassle if (by some miracle) I get a used set? What about the center console bezel with the seat heater switches?

--Anyone have experience with aftermarket seat heating solutions?

Online Infiniti resources that may have parts/etc?

On a side note, even the dealer doesn't carry the bullet shaped interior light bulbs for this car (the main map/courtesy lights that come on when doors open). They're special order. Love my car, but ...seriously? Light bulbs?

Aftermarket heated seats will be your best option and they do work very well. Check out www.heatedseatkits.com if you already haven't.

What color is your interior? I have a good complete LF seat in black with heat and a good RS black seat covers. The frame and air bag are no good on the r seat. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks. But, I have tan/beige interior. I wasn't fond of the light color at first (I like black), but it has grown on me. :)

Checked the link above and it seems straightforward enough to install seat heaters. I presume the leather seat cover will come off relatively easily (aren't glued to pad). I may take a stab at that project next month. Maybe even go crazy and do the back seats too.

If you check on http://www.car-part.com/ there are a few recyclers that have the seats for your car. I'm not sure if they are heated so you should call them. They have the seats listed around $150-$250 each.

I retro'd OEM heating elements on my wifes BMW a few years back. It was pretty straight forward. I picked up a set of poor condition tan front seats from a local junk yard that were heated and the OEM switch panel for $200. Pulled the covers off both sets removed the heating elements and wiring from the junkyard pair and installed them on her black leather set. Reinstalled the covers, wired everything up using the OEM fuse location and switch panel, and you could never tell they had been apart. All in all it took me 2 evenings to do it.

For $200 it was hard to beat OEM heaters and switches. If you don't mind the DIY it can be done affordably using oem parts as the fuse location is in place from the factory. Just need to run the sub harness (which I made myself).

Goodluck!

**Edit: Yes buying the correct color seats in good condition would have made life much easier, then all you have to do is wire them.. which is easy. However, finding a good condition set and the correct color was not easy. It would have cost about $500 for the pair if i had gone that route.

If you do decide to tackle it yourself (which I encourage) you'll need to invest in a set of hog ring pliers. Pick up a 100 or so hog rings from a local interior shop (should cost $5 or less). If you do some research online you'll find quite a few diy threads that give step by step instructions for various vehicles. All automotive seats are basically the same. So you can learn how to take a seat apart from pretty much any modern vehicle.

The heated seat conversion sounds fairly simple. The 2005-06 Q45 seats is what i've been looking for. Those years Infiniti changed from having heated elements to a system that has both heated and cooled with a blower motor similar to the M45 seats.

i thought sport package includes heated seats? my came with them with a rear spoiler. i know mines not premium sport since it does not have the reclining back seats and adaptive cruise control. plus my projector housings are blue which only came with the sport package.
