Just recently my 2002 Q45 Sport doesn't always start, in fact it doesn't even crank! I have to wait anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes before she starts right up....?

I've read similar posting and was wondering if anyone could guild me in the right direction. I'm thinking my starter is beginning to fail?

Any and all responses is appreciated. Thank you Nico and everyone in advance!

We could throw out some guesses as to why, but for an accurate diagnosis, you {or your favorite trusted shop} must do some hands on testing to isolate the exact reasons and failing part.

Something you can try before going to the shop. Put the transmission in neutral before turning the key.

I've had this happen twice. Jiggling the transmission lever resolved it. The switch telling the computer that the car is in park was slightly out of adjustmen.

djwarner,

It happened again, and I tried your method of "jiggling the transmission lever" and it worked!
So, I guess a new starter would be a waste of money and time at this point....

Is there a permanent solution to this 'switch out of adjustment' ?

You guys are the best!

Adjust the switch position.

Sorry, couldn't stifle myself. I believe the switch is under the center console. Mine has never been bad enough to urge me to dig out the FSM.
