Ladies & gents,

I'm preparing to replace my spark plugs for my 02 q45 Sport and was wondering if you could recommend set of spark plugs off Ebay?
Should I also replace the coils, or anything else that tends to wear out around the area.

Thanks and I look forward to your suggestions.
LLT

Has anyone replaced the spark plugs on a 2002 Q45 Sport, what is the difficulty level considering all the 'stuff' hovering over the right side?
I'm tempted to have the dealer do it....

Can anybody give me advice?

I wouldn't assume it to be too difficult, just label vacuum lines as you remove them and keep the nuts bolts organized.
spark plug jobs are not too complicated and you shouldnt really have to replace other stuff while doing it. Becareful with the coils as you remove them, but by no means should you have to replace them.

as for plugs- stick with NGK or Densos, and if you like replaceing them go with copper plugs otherwise stick with Platinum plugs

Thanks guys for all the info; the spark plugs are buried under the air box assembly among other hoses and wires, and look intimidating to say the least.

life602: Please email me your write up with pics--my email address follows: [email protected]

Thanks a bunch!

Don't mention it bro.just take ur time cause the driver side plugs are easy its the ones by the firewall which are trick in both sides.I put my extension trhough the break line so I could fit in the socketand on the driver side I have to unplug a connector but u will see which one when u try to get the plug out.the other tip would be to dust the hole top of the engine and valve covers to reduce the probability of debree that could get intothe cilynders.if u have any more question and stuff hit me up bro I'm here to help as much as I can bro

I finished replacing my spark plugs yesterday on my 2003 Q. It was a fairly easy job taking about 3 to 4 hours due to having to remove the air box. I used the OEM NGK spark plugs and the car feels like it runs better than ever. I waited til 70K miles and there was a good amount of carbon buildup on the plugs so next time I will change after 60K. I definitely wouldn't wait til 105K like Nissan recommends.

To get to the back plugs I used a 10inch extension along with a link of 3 "swivel" adapters to get into the tube. It still is hard to reach but would have been impossible without them. I torqued the plugs to 20 ft-lbs. The air box is not hard to remove or reinstall but adds an hour to the job.

Nice! I've got about 90K on the original plugs and I'm feeling some stumbling on acceleration. I do have the extension and swivel adapter; thanks for the heads up!

Finally got around to installing my spark plugs and boy...what the heck was I waiting for? Everything is so crisp and quick! Should have done this 20K miles ago!

I also found out that the air inlet (rubber tubing) was torn between the sections, I have no idea how this happened?

Dang a 3-4 hour job? No wonder the dealership charges a grip for this job. It may be worth changing out the head gasket at this time as well. :gapteeth:

Yo Seldomseen,
What's your email, I'll forward 'life602' instructions with pics to you.

It's not bad, once the air assembly comes off it's smooth sailin'. You will also want to grab a 3" inch & 6" swival socket for getting the plug on the driver's side at the headboard (whatever that's called).

I've been digging for it in my email, and having no luck! I know it's in there somewhere? It's a pretty simple job once the air assembly is off. There are 4 or 5 screws holding it down. Let me keep looking and if I don't find it I will take a few pics of my engine bay for you with the location of each screw.

Give yourself several hours and clean up areas which needs cleaning. Looking back now, I should have replaced my cam cover gaskets because I think there is a leak.
