Just bought a 2002 Q45/premium - great car...!
The previous owner had the cassette deck removed, and installed an XM radio in its place. It's a very clean installation - looks factory. Problem is, it uses FM modulation rather than a hardwire, and I'm left with a TAPE button on the dash that does nothing.
My question is: does the 2002 radio have the ability to accept a satellite wiring harness, maybe through the use of an AUX input? If not, could I retrofit a newer Q45 head end unit into the '02 to better integrate the XM radio? (And it'd be nice to change that TAPE button to SAT...). Effectively, I would like to end up with an entertainment system that's available on the newer Q's.
Any suggestions or resources to get the parts I may need?

I don't think that any 2002 Q45 were factory prewired, but there may be a kit. Do you have the previously uninstalled components?
JasonB is the expert on F50 (what you have) Q45. Joe Tesesnky is the best source for parts and parts information for any Infiniti.
I am sure the price of the of the retrofit might drive you to a custom installation. There are quite a few subtle differences between the 2002 and 2003 F50, especially in the electronics.

I know the '02 Q's were not prewired, but I thought an aftermarket wiring harness was available to do what I want. I just don't have any info on the factory head end unit to know if it has an AUX input, or anything else about it.

It's the Desert Platinum. I always liked my cars in dark or classy black, but I have to admit, the DP is pretty.
It seems like not that many later model Q's come up for sale; and the premium package seems to be even more rare. The sales guy at the dealership called me everytime they got one in, but they were almost always base Qs.
So when he called me with this one, I decided not to hold out for black any longer (good thing, too; they ran an add on it. He later told me that 4 others were in wanting to buy it, just within a couple of hours after me).
