Probably right, I seem to remember that the TSB regarding the throttle/gas pedal made a big difference in acceleration.

The 2002 CIMA has a higher 5th gear and a very low ratio diff, the sum made the engine actually turn slower at 60 mph than the 90-96 Q and much lower than the 97-01 CIMA.

The 2002 actually got better [+1.0 MPG] highway MPG than any Q45 even the smaller Q41.

The 2003 got an increased ratio diff that improved acceleration at the expense of MPG........................6% gearter rpms than 90-96 in top gear.

I don't ackknowledge than any 97-2006 Q45 were real Q45 but were CIMA as they are sold in Japan.

With the same displacement engine everything depends on rpms!

All that cost (performance-wise) for ONE mile per gallon. Pathetic.

Well 1.0 MPG could be 1.4999 MPG

2.76 x 0.83 =~ 2.291 vs 2.45.........................that's 6.94% x [tire loaded diameter adjustment]..................comes out to a perfect 1.5 mpg gain .

Many people WHINE about the 12.5% loss in mpg of the 2003.

It didn't help when the new 02 Q was compared to other luxury cars on the market. The Deville DTS, Lexus LS, and some other "large barge" type sedans in its price range outran the Q which was marketed as a sporty, powerful alternative.

By 2003, it didn't matter how much it had improved. No one was interested anymore.

[On the plus side, low resale makes it a strong contender as a used car.]

Agreed. I don't much care for the look, but when my sled gets to the end of it's life you can bet I'll take a look at on of these. They are very, very cheap.

The Q45 has had lack luster sales since its inception....only a handful of folks appreciated the vehicle.

Actually 1991 and 1994 were strong relatively. 1993 and 1996 were bad but no where near the dismal 2002-2006.

Repeat previous Buyers of the 97 felt totally fooled and lied to and while they were getting a reliable bargain, the cheapening was just too apparent.
