Couple of weeks ago I noticed that the rear light lamp is not working. The brake lights and reverse were working. Took it to nissan they changed the fuse and examined wires for any damage or problem but couldn't find anything. The fuse blew again after a week. I took it to a trusted mechanic and he couldn't find anything and replaced the fuse. He said it can be the old bulbs.

Today it went off again. Any ideas what it can be. The brake and reverse lights are working.

Yes they did. I don't know if they are oem or not as I bought it used last year. Should I try changing rear bulbs.

I would replace all of the bulbs... preferably with OEM bulbs, or Sylvania LL.

Check your bulb socket contact first. When applicable apply some dielectric grease and replace your bulb with OEM (Stanley) or Sylvannia.

Good luck!

Not sure if the '02 used LED tail light bulbs like my '05, but the '05 had a recall on them. Dealer replaced them at n/c. You may want to check with your nearest Infiniti dealer and see if the recall applies to your car. If so, while they're doing that, have them check out the wiring and connectors. Note that it's not a waranty item, but a factory recall, so even if your warranty is up, it would still apply (if you do have LEDs).

Just a thought.

THIS WAS HAPPENING TO MY 91 Q45 ALSOprevious owner (via the dealership) made many attempts at repairing it... last attempt was to remove the sun visors as the vanity lights were supposedly on the circuit.

I put a slightly larger fuse in : up only 5 amps (from 20 to 25 amp?) solved the problem.

then, several months later, I had "tailight out" warning come on intermittently; later didn't work all together, tech found a bad connection in or at the socket;

this was probably the cause all the time.

The fuse was replaced 3 weeks ago and so far no problem.
