Hi, I own a 2002 Q45 with 52,000 miles. I find it to be an excellent car, but I have a few questions for the faithful out there,

I am pretty sure mine does have the peddle, TCM and ECU upgrade (ITB-02048). I have an Infiniti premium extended warranty, and Infiniti is great about fixing warranty items and taking care of any issues to date. How would I approach them to fix this ITB-02048?? Do they necessarily have to fix a TSB/ITB? Remember I have the Infiniti warranty on the car.

Are they any performance upgrades I can do to this car that does not void the warranty? I have a K&N (yawn) but wondering what else is out there, have not been able to find much.

When going over harsh bumps, its sounds like something is loose in the back.?? Anyone else have this issue?

Do you have to use Syn Oil on this car? I do not think you do, but I might be wrong, seems to run just fine on conventional.

I recently took it in for a few items, one of them being because my rear air vents were not blowing. Cabin Filter was completely clogged, just a reminder to change it out or clean it. Any recommendations for leather cleaner?

Thanks,

Ask them to do it for you nicely?

Get rid of the Krap and No good filter (K&N).

Ask them to look over the suspension.

ALMOST any oil is OK as long as its changed regularly but Synthetic is a little better.

The noise could be from the suspension end links needing replacement too. I had mine replaced several months ago and the noise stopped.

So YES it has already been done.or NO you still have the problem and want it fixed?

Infiniti of Concord (Ca) did the upgrade under the extended warr because I was at 74k miles when it was finally fixed. 1. I had reported the hesitation at 49k to Infiniti of Sacramento (who blew me off) and it was in the service records.2. Leslie (mt service writer at Concord) got the extended warr to cover it. Maybe because it was reported or maybe as a safty issue...I don't remember now, but it only cost me my deductable (non-infiniti extended warr) $25. The total was over 1100.

Things don't "rattle or make noises" on this car. It's a tank. As I and others have discovered, if it makes a noise....a part is broken or shot.Seldomseen and I both had the front end 'rattle" it was the end links! they were shot. What a difference the new ones made!!! But at 52k....I push for warr replacement.

A good service writer can 'work a claim'. THey want that warr $$$$ just as bad as you want it fixed. HHeck, Leslie at Neillo Infiniti of Concord got a ballast covered at 105K!!!!

I noticed a squeek in the back, and I found it to be the rear shade. It makes the noise when it is retracted but quiet when it is extended while going over a bump.

Remember the multi hundreds of rubber isolated items in suspension and drive train + body are more sensitive to temeprature cycling than to mileage. So 7 years is 7 years - the functional equivalent of 100k.

Fortunately for Niissan rubber isolators are wear and tear and not covered by any warranty after 4 years.

I would expect all 4 shocks are worn out by now and do not perform anywhere near brand new and need replacement along with other suspension items.

Check front and rear sub frame for rubber changes and damages.

If you are not concerned with MPG you can replace diff gears with 2003 Q45 gear set or those fron new M45 for faster acceleration. This will improve acceleration by 2.5% [0.3>0.4 seconds] and decrease MPG by 10% on highway.

Thanks for all the responses. The car is with the dealer now and I am working to get them to cover this under my warranty. I will keep you updated but this information has been great and is very appreciated.

To update those who responded and those curious, my Infiniti dealer in Metairie Louisiana (Ray Brandt Infiniti) performed the ITB 01038a and ITB 02040 on my 2002 Q45 and covered it under my extened warranty.

I was explained the ITB 02048 was for vehicles that had not yet left the lot (non-applicable at this point). The ITB 01038a addresses the accelerator pedal replacement while the ITB 02040 addresses the ECM and TCM adjustments. Have yet to drive the car, but glad to hear they covered this. Infinitihelp.com is a great website where you can download all the TSB on all models, and there are pdf's of the issues that are damn good.

The more information you have for your underwriter, the better. Shows you are an informed customer. My underwriter was great and as usual customer service was top notch. They even lent me a G35 while they did the work.

More updates after I drive it, hope this helps.
