I am at a loss, I have a 2002 Q45 which neither lowbeam HID will work.

I have tried several correct bulbs in both left and right side units.I have checked the relays and fuses, all of which seem to be perfect.

The car has 90k miles on it. Any help would be fantastic...

From what I see the Ballasts are part of the headlamp units themselves... Can they be swaped out with new ballasts without buying a whole new headlamp assembly????

Again, any help from others would be great....

Thank you,Jason

I would pay the dealer the 1 hour diagnostic charge to figure it out then decide to let them fix it, or do it yourself.....may be cheaper than throwing parts at it

Ballasts on F50 are emerging as a failling point. Check them first, although it is unusual but not inconceivable for both to fail at the same time.

Hoped you used a Sylvania Osram D2S.

Ballast can be replaced without replacing the whole assembley. I have it replaced on my 02.

Look for me other post - I have a video of how to get the lites out so you could get to ballast. Pretty ez stuff.

http://www.viddler.com/explore/rashid11/videos/10/

Now, if your ballasts are dead (mine showed a short when tested with a meter, across the 12V input), you will have 2 options:

- settle for a stealership repair- DIY (what I did)

Stealership will absolutely rape you. 2 ballasts + labor + 2 D2S (they will likely force you into replacing the bulbs too to honor ballast wty) might set you back north of $2000. Way north.

I bought newer model ballast (all/most of new Infinitis and Nissans use the new, unified ballast) off Ebay. Expect to pay about $60. You'd need to drill the HL assy to let the ballast wire in, but the rest is very easy.

Again - look @ me video http://www.viddler.com/explore/rashid11/videos/10/

And before ordering ANYTHING, lookie here:

LT-9 has schematic. The only thing _common_ to both LO beams is the Headlamp relay-1 - make sure it works. Ea low beam has its own fuse ... 15A if I remember correctly - I show in me video where it is, check those too.

To test the relay, you can test the coil, see if the control signal gets to the relay, etc.

I just got a quote from my local Nissan dealer last week. Part # for an OEM 2002 Q45 HID ballast is: 26055-AR010

Dealer quoted $717.77 CDN plus taxes = $800 CDN lol

Guys, here is one time when an aftermarket (quality product) is much cheaper than the dealer.Watch rashids video.......it'll save you a cool 1300 bucks!!

I know`it seems like a big project but it really is just a bunch of screws and bolts.
