just took my new Q for the longest ride since ive owned and it is good execpt that the rear or the car seemed llike a steam boat with a lot of weight in the back.

like noise when I hit breakes & the handling on curves really sucked ***.

BTW i still have warranty on the Q so let me know what I need to tell the dealer to replace/check

What does a warranty have to do with handling? All the bushings and rubber things are not really covered as to changes or wear. Same with shocks --- just covered if they leak, not if they don't perform as brand new.

Same with tires, they are not covered for changes in hardness of compound.

1.) Around the block, around the country? Can't tell from your description.

2.) What setting was the suspension on? How much weight was in the trunk? Any rear seat passengers? Tire pressures?

3.) What did the noise sound like, and why did you like it?

4.) Maybe a four wheel alignment? When was the last one? Tire rotation? Tire flip? Dealer won't cover wear and tear.

Owner must maintain beyond factory minimum specifications for extended performance beyond warranty period expiration..

Handling is 95% tires and 5% suspension [assumming shocks and bushings plus alignment are as new------spot on in the EXACT middle of range].

1.) Around the block, around the country?

It was a 200 mi hike to the rural part of MD - which had mountains and high terrain like that.

2.) What setting was the suspension on? How much weight was in the trunk? Any rear seat passengers? Tire pressures?

Suspension? well i dont have the sports so it was stock mode i guess. About 200 lbs of luggage and 2 guys in the back of the car...I dont think its that much but the two weighted about 150 each. Tire Pressure on the computer was about 38 psi - 40 psi.

3.) What did the noise sound like, and why did you like it?

Noise was almost like grind against something - cant describe it but it likes rubbing two peices of pastic together.

4.) Maybe a four wheel alignment? When was the last one? Tire rotation? Tire flip? Dealer won't cover wear and tear.

I jus bought the car so i dont know but i dont think it was the alignment. Dont know any of the details of the last work done on the car.

I called my dealer and told him about what the problem was and i'm still waiting on him to call me. I'll post up w/e he says...I am getting the rotors done as well as the rear shade b/c its all jacked up. All under warranty... =-)

Under warranty, so less than 60K miles, I presume. A little soon for shocks to be worn.

Think the front wheel was hitting the fender well liner?

Have your dealer supply you with a print out of the dealer performed service history.

I assume too that it's not the active suspension.

Anyone hear anything about the longevity of the Bose active systems? I'm considering a 2002 for my longer commute starting in a couple months.

I thought the Bose system was still in development stages?

Could be. I'm only going off what I thought I read before the 2002s came out. In one online article I read the journalist rode in a modified LS400. So what's the word on them for logevity? I think it's only active damping, no active rebound like the 1st gens.

Well, #1, you with the luggage and two guys in the back, that's 500 pounds! That's the reason right there. It was probably riding on the bump stops.

Do you have the stock 17's or 18's.

The 02+ isn't really known for it's sports car handling, espically the non sport/base model.
