Ladies & gents,

My 2002 Q45 Sport has 52K miles and the air conditioner is beginning to fail. When it works it great, when it doesn't work I can hear the a/c compressor switch on and off (I can also feel a slight jolt as it comes on and off).

My question is the following:In replacing my a/c compressor, is there anything else that I should consider replacing while I'm there? Also, can I replace the a/c compressor from the top of the engine or will I need to go under the vehicle?

As always, I appreciate everyone's feedback and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Well, the drier of course. But you need to determine why it has failed. Probably lost some of its charge, but from where? What component has caused the compressor to fail, if indeed it has?

It's insane for an a/c compressor for this type of vehicle to go bad for any reason but s**t happens.

Also, I had a local garage perform a comprehensive a/c check and it turns out that there are no leaks, and the compressor is indeed an issue.

WHAT IS A DRIER?
