My Q has 180k and I need my left bank converter (confirmed) replaced. I live in Ohio and the winters and salt help compromise everything eventually. I know there have been posts regarding replacing the entire Y pipe, but that is pretty pricey. Has anyone ever removed one OEM converter and spliced in an aftermarket converter? I realize there has to be compatibility in quality so it doesn't throw a code. So, in a nutshell... a) can this be done? b) what model-brand converter was used?

As always, I appreciate the feedback and help.

sure, it could be done if you can locate a similar size/shape converter and have it welded in,but for all that effort,it may be simpler to find the correct Y pipe from a wrecked Q in a junkyard or individual parting one out.Is yours rusted out, or just not working as designed to lower emissions ?
