Gentlemen, I'm sure this issue has been posted before but I can not find it.I have 37,000 mi. on my 2002 Q45.The accelerator seems to have a "dead" spot. Whenever you "hit the gas"it bogs down and then jumps into action. This happens when starting out in 1st and also when attempting to pass.Any ideas guys?

You must not have the software/hardware upgrade for the accelerator pedal and TCU.

Please read this: zer...ogram

Hope you have a warranty to cover this.'

Welcome to NICO.

First, please read the trunk of your car.

If you throttle pedal pivots but does not move the throttle lever when pushed at the top of the pedal, you don't have the update.

Does this problem happen with the 05 Q? My car does the same thing, I have 30K miles.

The symptoms described by both posters could have similar or different causes. Both need to be hooked up to Consult to see whats going on with them.

Paul and Max, I spoke with the Inf. Dealer in Glendale Ca. and asked about the softwre updates re: accelerator/throttle.This particular service writer said that his experience with the softrware update is that there was very little noticable difference after the update. He suggested that the throttle body was "gunky"/ sticky and that I should first have it cleaned for $150.00 !!! I made the appt. but am having second thoughts as I strongly distrusst dealers. Any input on this men?Remember the car has very low milage, 37K, and is driven mostly on the highway as opposed to the city.

I really appricate your input.

Joe

No, it was corrected in the later production run of 2002 MY after a certain VIN.

Read the particular TSB (a combination of two earlier TSB) whichis quoted elsewhere on this board. Poster is JasonB. VIN determines application.

You dealer's service writer must be Turdish.

The majority of those who had it done reported a noticeable difference.Your service writter is full of sXXX.I reported my problem under the 70k. but my service writter ignored it Niello Infiniti in Concord CA replace it all under my extended warranty. It about $1000. I was uot $100. I personally think it is worth the 1000. that bog really got old.

"the car has very low milage, 37K, and is driven mostly on the highway as opposed to the city. "

Important to understand that for some engine things HIGHWAY [steady speed] is worse than constant varying speed in city traffic.EGR either direct or via cam timing mixes exhuast gas and carbon crud with intake clean fresh air charge only at a steady highway speed.

When ever I buy a new car I always visit dealer every 90 days so they can find warranty claims to charge manufacturer to repair.

A 6.5 year old out of warranty car deserves no less attention, as the problems just pile up and the need to spend the $2000-2500 per year doesn't go away it just multiplies every year.

Failure to drive the average 10-12k per year doesn't give you a free lunch on the age wear and tear.
