Hey guys, I bought a 2002 Pathfinder LE with 82,000 miles two weeks ago and I love it! However, tonight, as I was leaving my friend's house, the car refused to go into drive. I am able to get it out of park and into Reverse and Neutral but it wont go into drive. I tried using the shift lock release button but I end up with the same result. I checked the fuses and they looked ok. Anyone have an idea on what the problem could be? I promise I'll post pics after I get it fixed and wash it.

So the shifter cannot physically move into drive?

Exactly. It cannot physically shift into drive. The furthest it can go is neutral.

Yes, the car will roll when in neutral and reverse works flawlessly. Im guessing it might be the shift linkage or the shifter itself.

Remove the ashtray, then the screw below the ashtray and pull the trim up and off (rotate to get around the shift knob). Ensure the shift linkage isn't getting caught on anything.

Well, it turned out to be something not too serious. One of the breather lines from the transmission was hanging and wedged itself in the shift linkage. Just had to move the hose out of the way and reattach it to the top of the trans. Thanks for the helpin out. :dblthumb:
