Just discovered this forum a few days ago. Lots of good stuff. Love it.Now for my problem. I have an 02 Pathfinder Chilcoot edition with 160Kms on it. For the past year, there has been a slow water leak coming in the front passenger side of the truck. I have taken half the dash apart on different occasions, and cannot find the leak. The dealer had some suggestions, but they want to charge me by the hour to find it. No way. If I pull back the carpeting behing the glovebox, water trickles down the right corner of the firewall. It is definately coming from the top and not from underneath. Any ideas?Besides that, the truck has been great. No problems other than the O2 sensors I've read about on this forum.

Thought of that (the dealer thought the AC condensation drain hose might be plugged, but it was Ok.)It's definately an exterior water (rain) leak. I can duplicate the problem with a garden hose by pouring water over the outside of the truck on the passenger side near the windshield. It seems like it would be easy to find, but it has baffled me so far. Thanks.

Thanks for your replies by the way. I usually open the hood, and spray water on the windshield, and let it run down the passenger side pillar. It then spills down into the cavity below the windshield and runs down the firewall. I was surfing through a bunch of older posts and threads, and came upon a posting that someone put up about a similar problem. It mentioned a pinhole in the windshield, but it wasn't very specific. I'm hoping whoever had this problem in the past reads this thread and maybe remembers where the leak came from. Thanks in advance.

So did you find the problem? I have the same thing with mine. Here in florida though my car is like a swamp. Ever since I got mine (2002 new) nothing but problems. Engine blew at 30000 miles. Had it replaced (under warrenty) they forgot a small plastic piece then wanted to charge me $125 (said it was part of an assembly) tried to contact nissan national and they never called me back. Really a shame I wanted a 350 (used to have 2 different 280Zs) but I'll never buy nissan again because of the problems and local dealer. Anyways now I have a swamp and cant figure out where the water is coming from.

First of all, my condolences on your Pathfinder. Too bad about all the bad luck. An exeption I hope. I have 170,000 Kms. (over 100k miles) on mine, and other than 2 oxygen sensors and the usual maintenance, I haven't had any problems. For example, I'm still running my original under carriage (suspension, steering, exhaust, etc.). As for dealerships, they are unique. Mine has been great. I've bought 4 cars from them over the past 4 years, and have given me excellent service. As for the water leak, I'm still not sure where it came from. I spent a lot of time with a garden hose trying to find it. I narrowed it down fairly close though. I ran water on the windshield pasenger side, as a far as I could figure, it was getting in around the weatherstripping that runs just below the windshield. (This weatherstripping runs from side to side and seals the rear edge of the hood when the hood is closed). I just took a tube of clear silicone sealant and RTV'd every little hole and seam I could find around that area. I even ran a bead of sealant under the weatherstripping. It's kind of hard to describe, so I hope you get the idea. Whatever I did seems to have worked. My carpet has been dry all summer.Good luck.
