I filled up my pathfinder today and when I took the nozzle out, i noticed the metal flap (not sure the exact name) didn't close and I could see into the gas tank opening. I stuck my finger in there and tried to feel for it to see if it was just stuck, but couldn't feel anything. I'm not sure if it pushed off into the tank or not.

Is this something I should worry about? If it did fall into the tank, can it get sucked up into the engine/fuel pump, etc?

Since I was 150 miles from home, I went ahead and took a chance and drove it home, but now I'm a little scared to drive it.

What should I do?

Thanks,Cliff

You should be fine. The fuel pump has a sock filter on it so it won't suck anything to big up.
