Good afternoon. The Air Conditioning in our 2002 Pathfinder runs great with cold air some times and other times the air is barely cool. My auto mechanic has made some repairs, but the AC continues to alternate from cold air to barely cool air.

Any idea's, suggestions as to what could be causing the proplem and what one can do to fix it are all gratly appreciated!!

Many thanks,

What repairs did the mechanic do so we can eliminate them for a diagnosis.

Have him check the thermostat. I had the same issue and my thermostat was acting up and causing the AC to kick off because of the faulty temperature reading the engine computer was receiving from the thermostat.

Check the RPM when you don't have ac. My car wont blow cold air unless i'm moving or it idles correctly. If the car doesnt idle at the right speed it will cut out to protect the compressor.

^^^ No offense but all these "checks" are just beating around the bush.
First, when it starts blowing warmer air, pop hood and look at the front of the compressor. Is it spinning or stopped?
Second, use a manifold gauge set to check the R134a high and low pressure at their ports. If the pressure is too high or low, the pressure sensor will turn off the compressor.
Third, are you full throttling (gas pedal to the floor) at any time? There is most likely a full throttle switch that turns off the a/c compressor at full throttle.
