Made an appointment with Brakes Plus for my Pathfinder on the phone. They wanted to know if I had already had someone else look at it (which I had, the Nissan garage) which showed that my front pads were down to 2 MM. Hmmm, why were they so interested in knowing if someone else had previously inspected my car? I asked if their brake service included resurfacing the rotors, which they said it did. Then I go there and they claim that because of the make and model of my vehicle, MY ROTORS can't be removed, and must be resurfaced while on the vehicle, so they had to charge me an additional $35. I'm thinking that this machine that allows them to resurface a rotor while still on the car probably saves them money anyway? Then they "clipped" me for an additional $40 for HARDWARE, which from what I have read is a few small parts that come with any set of pads anyway. I think they are shysters. What do you think?

Thanks Guys, You Are Great!!!!

At this rate you should have been charged a extra $5.00 because they needed a impact gun to remove your lugnuts.. And a $3.00 fuel-fee for them to keep the garage warm.. And a $5.00 stocking fee for keeping the pads in stock vs having them delivered... Oh wait the deilvery fee!!!

They did charge you a documentation fee to process the bill and actually charge you for the repair correct?

It's not that the rotors can't be removed, but it is labour intensive.

IMO it would be easier for the shop , and cheaper for you to machine rotors while still on the car versus pulling the hub and all the hardware and then reinstalling.

Taking the rotors off is not labor intensive at all... Especially for a shop which does brakes everyday. If i really wanted to try and get them off ASAP, both sides could have the old pads and rotors removed in under 15 min.

Resurfacing rotors is garbage, if your just replacing the parts with original spec equipment, what they charge you for resurfacing you can get new blank rotors for the same price and normal pads are cheap too.

This shop sounds trashy and personally if your not doing it yourself id take it elsewhere unless you already got the work done then bummer.

Even upgrading wont cost you much more, getting slotted rotors (dont get x-drilled because they warp easily and crack) stick with slotted or slotted/dimpled.

Right now on the pathfinder i think im at a new record with pads and rotors up front, i got ebc 3gd sport rotors for a good price 6 yrs ago (cant seem to find them that cheap anymore) and ceramic pads which sadly i forgot which brand they were but not cheapo, and the car isnt driven like a grandma either.

I have about 40% pad life still left give or take, no warping/shaking etc, brake dust is non-existant.
