I have a 2002 xterra v6 not 4wd. About 6 months ago my check engine light came on. Took it to auto zone and it threw 3 codes. One was P0328(knock sensor) One was P1444(canister purge valve solenoid)the other was P0453(they didnt give me a paper on that on so unsure) thet said that it could be just one of these causing all 3 codes. So in process of trying to find out what was wrong the check engine light went back off. I chalked it up to maybe bad gas or gas cap not being on correctly. Well a couple weeks ago the light came back on and my xterra will feel like its cutting out or surging for a bit. Its not constant and happens after its warmed up a bit. Anyone have any ideas? Cant afford to change everything that coded...

Distributors are known to be problematic on the VG33s....bearings go bad in them. Is it falling on its face at higher RPMs or is this surging / cutting out in all RPM ranges?

I'd definitely start with ignition. Pull the distributor cap and see if it's rusty at all underneath. If so, that's a good sign you may have the bearing issue.
