I bought my xterra sc (2002) April 2006. No problems til recently when clutch started slipping a bit-now it is almost undriveable. Right now, I am totally broke & am trying to diagnose problem & repair myself. Question is-Could the clutch possibly just need adjustment?-Ck'd owners man. & it defintely failed the "free play" measurement test! Luv my truck & got a good deal except I am in dire need of replacement tires & those 17" ones are NOT cheap. Am trying to save for tires & can't afford a new clutch, also!-HELP!!! Thanks

Check the pin at the pedal that connects to the clutch master. The pin should rotate, if it doesn't loosen the 12mm nut and turn the rod until the pin turns freely in pedal with the pedal in fully up position.

If that doesn't help I would look into the clutch master. If the clutch master checks out I would look into getting a new clutch.
