I am new to this site. I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE. I have only had the car for about a year now. Need to get my inspection sticker done. My CEL came on last month. Took the car to Autozone and they told me I have 3 codes coming up. I have codes P0507, P1122, and code P0223. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get these codes fixed. Need to get inspection sticker ASAP! Really dont have the money to take car to Nissan and get raped for everything I own. I have read through some of the other problems that people are having. Just wondering if anyone else has had these codes come up. And if so what did you do to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Chris

Those codes all relate to the electronic throttle system.P0223 - Throttle Position Sensor 1 Circuit High InputP0507 - Idle Speed Control System RPM Higher Than ExpectedP1122 - Electric Throttle Control Performance Problem

I'm fairly sure there was a technical bulletin or recall for the electronic throttle on the '02 Max. I'd call a dealer and see what they say.

Since my cars warranty is up, should this be something they have to fix? Or is this something that will leave me panhandling?

Thanks for the info you have provided already!!

If there's been a service bulletin or recall for it, they'll probably fix it, as I imagine it's considered a safety issue. I'm not sure though, it depends on the details of the recall/TSB and the individual dealer.

The system may just need to be recalibrated...you won't necessarily have to replace the part.

Thanks for the input on this. I have changed the air filter to a K&N filter. Do you think this might be the reason why?

I had one of my mechanic friends look at it. He unplugged the idle control valve, mass air sensor along with the battery. This did not do anything for the engine light. I will just take it to the Nissan dealer and pay for the diagnostic. Thanks for your help guys.

You can erase these codes with a Actron code reader

Cost = 65$

Be sure to right them down especially if your car is not running good
