2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 PCM/ECU

Hey There

Hello Everyone new here on the forum and im very hopeful that someone will be able to help me out with a friends car that has had the PCM/ECU replaced due to it not working any longer not sure what was the cause of it going bad tho. As the title states it is a 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 but i personally have not seen the car so i could not say for sure but that what i was told so that is what i am running with. My Question is am i able to help him Reprogram the PCM/ECU without taking the car to the dealer or spending a ridiculous amount of money obtaining hardware and software to do so. Any help resolving this issue or any help pointing me in the right direction is greatly apperiated.... God Bless.
