There's been much talk about the VQ35 burning oil. I wanted to ask about how to ck. the oil on the dipstick. If I check it first thing in the morning, its just at the Low range. If I allow the car to reach normal operating temp. wait for about 10 mins. then ck. it, (as per Nissan owners manual instructions). then the dipstick shows close to full. How can this be? I changed my oil in July, and the car only has 22K on it. Tks for any help!

The easiest way to validate would be to replace the oil and see how much comes out. For the most part, some have noticed more blow-by oil than others in the VQ.

Thank you for your response!

I agree the best way is to see how much oil comes out.

But I was wondering if there's a reason why the Nissan owners manual says to allow the car to reach operating tempeature, and then ck. the dipstick waiting at least 10 mins. "bec. this allows the oil to drain back to the pan". Well, wouldn't the oil have fully drained back to the pan overnight, so ckg. the oil first thing in the morning would be the best way?

Bec. the manual states to let her warm up first, then wait 10 mins. or so, then ck. the oil has me wondering if there's some routing system or something where the oil may go. Otherwise why doesn't Nissan say best time to ck. the oil is first thing in the morning?

Thanks for any help!
