2002 Maxima jerking when shifting gears

Hi All,

I have recently discovered the following in my 2002 Maxima with automatic transmission:

1. Car jerks when shifting gears.
2. Strange noise coming from the engine when in drive and RPM is between 1000 and 2000.

Expert advise would certainly help me handle the problem.

I would first check the fluid level to make sure it is at the proper level. If the fluid level checks ok, it may be a bad drop resistor, or an internal probelm with the transmission.

I usually don't even attempt to diagnose a noise over the internet, it's really quite difficult unless you can make a recording of the noise.

If the ATF color is dark, time for fluid replacement (and probably internal filter). Also check your engine mounts.
