I just purchased a 2002 Maxima and would like to add a nice sound system to the car. With the car being so new to me I don't like to remove things without knowing what to do. This may sound stupid but how do I get that damn dash cover off to get to the stereo??!! lol. Now what I'm thinking of doing is putting in an aftermarket head-unit, while using the bose door speakers and adding my own sub box. I'm aware that I need the adapter for the Bose setup. So I have the subs, head-unit, and plan on buying the aftermarket dash-kit and the adapter. Do I need the wire harness also if I'm getting the adapter? FINALLY, can I use my 4-channel amp with the Bose speakers or will they be powered heavily enough to roll with thumpin subs? And if anybody doesn't mind explaining the process for the whole thing it would help too. Sorry for the long post, but if anybody is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

1. put a flat head screw driver or a paint can opener on the sides, and pry gently until it pops forward. then just slide it out.

2. Remove the screw at the bottom of the change tray...then use the same tool as number 1 for the area with the small yellow dots....ignore the big dots, oops!

3. pry up the bottom portion then slide it out from under the AC/Heating controls...remove the harnesses for the power point and hazard lights before you pull on the piece too hard.

4. unscrew the screws where the yellow dots are after you get the top and bottom piece off.

5. disconnect the harnesses from the back, and remove the unit...you should end up with this.

6. remove the HU(head unit) by unscrewing the screws on the sides of the HU. Then slide out the HU.

I think that's it

have fun

lightsout,

i have to say you are one helpful SOB.

I certainly hope you didn't jump out to your garage and rip your dash apart just to give this guy a "how to"!
