Someone please help me! coming back from Tahoe yesterday (mountain driving conditions) and my car would not kick down into last gear. at 70mph i was sitting at 4k rpm's. It did this once a year ago for about 20 mins and never happened again. It seemed to work fine if i took the overdrive off. now when i went to pull my truck out this morning it would not go into reverse. I have no check engine or transmission lights on where should i start?

the fluid is a pinkish bright red so it looks ok. Flushed thed fluid and changed filter probobly a bot a year ago maybe 20,000-30,000 miles. Tried to back out of garage this morning and it is not going into reverse. Will still go into drive but not reverse.

Was the transmission shifting erratically or not shifting at all prior to this incident?

Transmission was fine before no issues. Truck has 140000 miles on it. Took it to aamco and they want to rebuild it think its a problem with my sun plate or disc somethin quoted me 2200-2800 for the rebuild is that a fair price?

I had mine completely rebuild for 2500 but mine burnt up a few gears

Then I found out you can score used trannies for less than $500 on Ebay, was pretty bummed :(

Id take it to another place for a second opinion though your problem doesnt sound to bad, when the levels are off in these tranmissions Ive read some funny stories, make sure its EXACT

AAMCO sucks- I would rather take a gamble on a low mile used transmission than have those idiots touch my transmission! Just google "aamco transmission reviews" and read up on the tons of unhappy customers.
