My I35 service engine soon light is on. Auto Zone ran a diagnostic but does not have much infinity information available. First troubleshoot code P0605 - ECM Faullty ecm and second code 1611 with no Infinity definitions available on the auto zone computer. Any help, direction or advice is welcome. I would like to arm myself with information before I engage a mechanic to do the work.

Are you sure it was 1611 and not 0161?

What problems are you having?

0605 coded for sure
Second code 1611 may not be accurate.
Only OEM Brand on AutoZones computer was GM code 1611. Maybe the customer service guy put the wrong code in the computer.

Car was overheating in the heat wave we had. Infinity replaced my radiator and thermostat and solved the overheating pluse they replaced a front wheel bearing. However, coincidence or not the car was hard starting right after that. There was a strong smell of antifreeze. No leaks and the reservoir is still full. Assume they spilled or overfilled the reservoir and caused an overflow. Wonder if fluid splashed on electronics? Assumed further the antifreeze burned off. Car starts right up now but service engine light is on.

I'd reset the light and clear the codes. Then drive the car around for awhile and see if the codes return.

Since the car is not acting up that sounds like a good idea. I will try that tomorrow. Thx for the input.

Auto zone will not clear codes. I think I will disconnect the battery and wait fifteen minutes or so and reconnect battery. Hopefully everything will reset.

That should do it.

Autozone doesn't clear codes? When did they start that?

Don't know when it started. The customer service person was kind enough to print off the codes and explain what he could. He said a mechanic would have to look at it to determine the problem and clear the codes once they were understood. Probably sided on the side of common sense.

Nah, clearing codes is no big deal at all. Not sure why he wouldn't. Any code that is recurring will show back up within 15 minutes in most cases. I use Advance myself, they just give me the scanner and let me do everything myself.

I bought the ELM327 a year ago.

It plugs into your OBDII slot and sends the codes to any Android device via bluetooth. I use the Torque App, which is like 5 bucks at the google store to read the codes and clear them etc.

Total cost is like $31. Aside from codes, with Torque you can read all of your engine sensors in real time. Everything from water temp to ignition timing, it also datalogs. Pretty fun to play with actually. I suggest it to everyone.

Disconnected the battery and waited a half hour to reconnect. Beeped the horn to discharge any juice left in the system. Car started right up and service engine soon light came right on. Went for a short drive and everything appears fine when in drive or idle. I do not not have a droid phone. I do own an I pad. Any diagnostic tool recommendations that would work with Apple products would be appreciated. I will look on line to see what I can find. Thx for your info. Edzo

Not sure if Torque works with the Ipad. I only mentioned Droid because it's what I have.

Checked on line - manufacturer has a similar model that can be used with I Pad, I pod or I phone.

Cleared & reset the codes and have not had a problem yet. Hope that is the end of it. I have had this car since new and it has been great. However, it sure gets expensive when things start to fail. After 140,000 miles I can't complain to much. Thanks everyone for your input.

Talked to an auto mechanic friend. He indicated Nissan issued a TBS regarding Faulty ECM code, my issue. Nissan suggested it may need to be reset and watched. So there you go. So far so good.

I'm from Chelmsford, like 35-40 mins N of Boston. USAF has taken me all over the place, in Dover until Oct, then we're making our final move to NW PA. Penguins/Steelers country! Sok though, I fly my Patriots and Bruins flag all season long.

There's a slim chance my wife could land a contracting job at Hansom, we'll see. Looks like PA atm.

He's good when he's good, but when he's bad, he's awful. He doesn't have any in between. Unfortunately, his bad games have outnumbered the good as of late.
