New to the site, but not to infiniti's and nissain. I've owned a 2000 Maxima, and 99 I30-t. Both cars I loved and drove like dreams. Last week I picked up a 02 Q45 for a steal. The car drives super smooth, with the right amount of power when needed, especially when you turn on the sport suspension, then turn of the VDC.
Problem is the car randomly stalls out, and then the check engine light comes on. My mechcanic checked the code and it was the cam shaft positioning senor, he inspected the sensors and said the part were in good condition. I asked him for a tune-up and he said car didn't need one, engines in excellent condition.Next day it stalled while on the freeway along with a check engine light. Took it back to my mechcanic and had him change the cam shaft position sensor, and crank shaft angle sensor. Very next day it stalled again while on the freeway. Yesterday I took it to the Infiniti dealer and they're saying I need to replace variable timing control sensor, both intake timing control sensors and valves, along with the covers for both. Can someone tell me if this is accurate or am I being taken for a ride? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
