Hello, the power steering on my Q45 recently went out in it's entirety. I took it to a local Asian Vehicle Mechanic and he advised that I would have to get the new Rack and Pinion part from the dealership for around $1800.00. I asked if he would be willing to install aftermarket parts and he advised yes, but if something happens I will have to pay for it to be re-installed. I have found this part on multiple sites - http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/A ... 63043.html#

Does anyone have experience replacing the Rack/Pinion on a Q45? What are your suggestions? Is the above After-Market part going to work?

Any info would be of a great help.

Thank you in advance.

Don't know if this will help or not. I just bought a 2000 Q45 a few weeks ago. The last repair that the seller had done before I bought the car was to replace the rack and pinion. I have the invoice in hand. Total cost was $843 for parts and labor. The only parts shown are are "rebuilt rack and pinion" for $495 and $3 for power steering fluid. I am just learning the car, so I have nothing to compare to, but the car seems to steer and ride fine with the remanufactured rack and pinion. Hitman's Q45 mechanic stated that using a remanufactured rack and pinion is the norm for these cars because the OEM replacement is so much money.
