The car has shown no signs of trouble and it ran fine yesterday. I started it for a few seconds to move it over. Today, it won't start. The battery is strong. The car tries and tries to start, but the only noise is the ignition. I never hear the motor trying to turn.I don't smell gas like it is flooding, so my first thoughts are the fuel filter or fuel pump. Anyone have diagrams showing where these items are?

I also want to check the cap/plugs to see if there is a spark. Where in the heck is the distributor cap? I removed the motor cover with the hex bolts and I still don't see it.

Any auggestions? The car has about 130k miles.

No distributor on the VQ. It has individual coilpacks that sit directly on the plugs.

Fuel pump is under the rear seat. There's a pass-through cover under the seat bottom.

As for the filter...I don't remember where it is on the '02s. I THINK it's on a line back near the firewall on the driver side somewhere, but I'm not sure. Sorry.

I think my problem was gas related. My tank was very low to start with. I added a gallon of new gas and it started. No problems since.

Did you ever fix the problem with your I35? I am having the same problem with my 2001 I30.

All I did was add gas. It's ran fine since then.

There is no fuel filter on the 02's Just the sock screen on the pump. That is why I don't get below 1/4 tank on our 02 Maxima.

I think the starter is the problem or the safety neutral switch for the rest of the gang.
