2002 HID troubleshooting sequence needed

Got my first maintenance problem since buying the Q in January.

Today, driving in a heavy rain, the drivers low beam HID went out. Doing a search in this forum gave some good help, especially the video on removing the light assembly. Obviously this is not a five minute repair and the parts are not cheap, so it looks like a some troubleshooting is due.

I checked both the left and right low beam 20 amp fuses are good.

Any suggestions other than swapping the bulbs?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was hoping there was a quick way to isolate between the bulb and HID control before disassembling half of the front end.

So now I have a different problem.....

Got in the car after drying out in the garage over night ... start it up and low and behold the driver's low beam is working again.

Apparently something got splashed in the heavy rain yesterday. Question is what malfunctioned, a connector seal causing a short, or the seal around the HID control, or ???

Any suggestions?

I still need help isolating the water intrusion into the HID system. Anyone have experience with this?

Check condition of your splash guards and lower engine cover.
