Kev1n,

Did you have vibration during braking, or simply while driving. I feel no pulsation when braking, only when cruising between 50 and 70. Still trying to understand if/how bad rotors cause a vibration when cruising but not when applying the brakes.

Sorry to

I just don't want to spend any unnecessary money replacing parts that aren't in need of repair.

phatyak,

initially i had vibrations during both braking and cruising. I did the brakes first it it got rid of most of the vib except for the one around 80mph. I had the oem tires/rims balanced and rotated, it mitigated the vibration, but did not eliminate it completely. After the new rims/tires its all gone. I would definately reccemend new rotors for you to get a clean slate.

Kev1n,

Thank you for your input. I agree, replacing the rotors can't hurt anything and it would give me a baseline.

I think I will have the wheels road force balanced first. If that doesn't help, then I will replace the rotors. I know I will have to replace the shocks/struts and the tie rod ends sometime in the next year or so as well. If all of that fails, I will look into the new rims. Those 19's look great, but that is an expense I am not sure I am ready to incur any time soon (baby on the way).

Thanks again.

Sorry for the late reply.

My car only shook b/w 68-73mph and it shook bad enough to annoy me. Beyond 80 it was not much, below 60 it was slightly there.

There was no pulsation on braking b/c All 4 rotors/pads were brand new. I can stand on the brake and there would be no vibration.

I think the rotors were not balanced.

But Guys here's the key thing...

I would get my tires balanced from Discount tire direct, Everything would come out to 0.00 .. Take 1 sping down the hwy and it would be great for about 5mins and then it would start shaking again.. Come back put the tires back on the balancer and All 4 tires were out of balance. This really bugged me. So BF GOODRICH replaced all 4 of my tires with Higher load rating tire and that Fixed it slightly but not by much.

I told them maybe the rim was spinning on the tire. They said I was crazy..

Crazy or not, I had an expensive car and didn't nead a headache of getting tires balanced 2-3 times a week.

Start out with having all 4 tires road force variations measurements should not exceed 10 pounds and final balance should be trimmed to less than 3 grams inside and out even if you must cut 5 gram weights to fine tune.

I always test my wheels when swapping tires if the wheels are more than 5 grams out of balance without tires, I fix that first before mounting new tires. THERE ARE special metal pads in quality wheels where you grind off metal to balance wheels.

So you KNOW the level of precision I am using a post 1982 US penny weighs 2.5 grams.

Vibration free driving demands perfect road surfaces and a level of precision most don't get anywhere near and even that goes away with a pothole.

Try to have a Road Force Balance on your car, it is worth every penny. If you have not done that yet,
