My FOB got stolen

2002 Q45

Searched all over NICO and got a few answers... I have sum unanswered questions... Ebay FOB should work but does the FCC ID have to match the remote that I already have?

If I program a new FOB do I need to reprogram my old FOB?

lemme know if anyone can help me...

I bought a key off ebay for my 02. Couple months later I took it to the dealer with me when I was having a crap load of other work done and ask them to program the key.

The 1st thing they said is, as long as it is truly an 02 key, cuz you can tell the diff between an 02 and an 03 key by looking at it, but if I happened to end up with an 03 key, they said they would not be able to program it for my car. Then they said if they could program it, it would cost $117.

I got lucky cuz I got the correct key and after I told them forget it, I guess they decided to throw in the programming since I spent approx. $2K on other work.

So all I can say is try to confirm it is in fact a 02 key. I personally figured it was worth $45 to chance it cuz I knew a whole new key was going to cost hundreds.

Huh, I guess I got my key somewhere else cuz it wasn't anywhere in my ebay history.
