"2002 BMW 7's getting 'low balled' on wholesale market Resale value of new body style in the tank

A quick survey of BMW dealers by the Spies uncovered extremely weak resale values of the new 7-series.

Based on random calls to our 'in the know' wholesalers and BMW dealer GM's, a 2002 seven series with an original MSRP of $75K, is only bringing around $62K wholesale.

What this means to you the consumer is, if you had or have bought one and want to dump it or trade it in on another car, you can only expect to get a number in the low sixties.

Which means you are probably $12-15K underwater on your 745...

Brutal!"

I used to LOVE the 7series.

I remeber as a kid in Germany I would read and reread and relook at the AutoMotor Sport article/pictures of the then new 1987 BMW 735i.

Now I prefer Q45's hands down.

Fred...:)

I dumped a '95 740 to buy the '94 Q. I do NOT miss that Bimmer. If it had been a 735 from a couple of years earlier, the story just might be different. The 3.5 liter M30 motor is something special.

I drove a new 745 and was really impressed with the power, brakes and suspension. It was real quiet and comfortable and I could even get used to the looks and I Drive. But my wife noticed that the 300 mile demo already had visible wear on several interior trim pieces, more than our 13 year old Q45. Unacceptable in a car that expensive!

maybe it ain't selling well, because of the state of the economy right now and that's it's pretty damn expensive

i've always liked Bimmer, they make good cars and manage to not sacrifice perf./ style in any of their models

they deserve the 'ultimate driving machine' slogan

dammit, i want an ol' M3 (e36)

I've once had an E36 Bimmer for three years and the car literally started to fall apart..LOL.. the trims were rattling, the ceiling's upholstery were showing signs of falling, the windshield wippers had a mind of its own...maybe its me but I have a feeling that Bimmers have a bulit in timming devices that make the car self destruct after the warranty period is over..:). The Mercedes however are very robust but doesn't drive as well as a BMW though

I hate to tell you but most people buying that car think 12-15k is a drop in the bucket

I'd like to try a mid-90s 5-series. Here's a review:
